Terms of Service · Privacy Notice · Refunds & cancellation
This notice explains the cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage, pixels and scripts that access your device) used on contractsdue.co.uk, as required by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
In short
We use one cookie, and only after you sign in. It keeps you signed in. We don't use analytics, advertising, social media or other tracking cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party scripts on the website, and we don't store anything else on your device. That's why there's no cookie banner: the law doesn't require consent for a cookie that's strictly necessary for a service you've asked for.
The cookie we use
| Name | Set by | Purpose | When it's set | How long it lasts | Consent needed? |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
tr_session | contractsdue.co.uk (first party) | Keeps you signed in to your account after you use a sign-in link. It contains a signed reference to your account and nothing else. | Only when you sign in. Visitors who don't sign in get no cookies. | 30 days, or until you sign out (signing out deletes it). | No: strictly necessary (see below). |
The cookie can't be read by scripts on the page (HttpOnly), is only sent over HTTPS (Secure) and isn't sent with background requests made by other websites (SameSite=Lax).
Why no consent is needed
PECR allows storage on your device without consent where it's strictly necessary to provide an online service you have requested, including to automatically authenticate who you are (regulation 6 and paragraph 4 of Schedule A1 to PECR, as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025). The tr_session cookie is only set when you choose to sign in, and its only purpose is to keep you signed in so that your account pages work. Without it, the account service you've asked for couldn't be provided.
Other storage we've checked
- Local and session storage: none. The small script library we use for live search filtering (htmx, served from our own domain) can keep copies of pages in your browser's local storage. We've switched this off, so it stores nothing.
- Analytics, advertising and social media: none. No Google Analytics, Meta pixel, LinkedIn Insight tag or similar.
- Third-party content: none. We don't load fonts, scripts, images or videos from other websites. Links to Find a Tender, Contracts Finder and other sites only take you there if you click them.
Stripe checkout and billing portal
When you pay, change your plan or manage billing, you're taken to pages hosted by Stripe (checkout.stripe.com and billing.stripe.com). Stripe sets its own cookies on those pages, for example to prevent fraud and keep the payment secure. Stripe is responsible for those cookies. See Stripe's cookie policy.
Managing cookies
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block the tr_session cookie, you can still browse the public pages, but you won't be able to stay signed in to your account.
Changes and contact
If we ever want to use cookies or similar technologies that need your consent (such as analytics), we'll update this notice first and ask for your consent before setting them, unless a legal exception applies, in which case we'll explain it here and give you an easy way to object. Questions: support@contractsdue.co.uk. See also our Privacy Notice.
