Find a Tender (find-tender.service.gov.uk): higher-value notices from UK public bodies, including all Procurement Act 2023 notices. Read through the public OCDS API. We fetch all notice stages and filter in our own code, because the API's award filter silently drops Procurement Act award notices.
Contracts Finder (contractsfinder.service.gov.uk): lower-value notices from English public bodies. Read through the public OCDS search API. Since the Procurement Act 2023 took effect (24 Feb 2025), new procurements publish their notices on Find a Tender, including many lower-value ones, so Contracts Finder now carries relatively few new opportunities (in our data for 7 Sep - 5 Oct 2026: about 210 tender notices on Contracts Finder vs about 2,200 on Find a Tender).
Both are published under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Both rate-limit heavily, so we fetch politely every 2 hours and resume where we stopped.

About 1 in 4 Find a Tender award notices has no end date. Almost all are notices on the old 2015/2016 regulation forms and NHS Provider Selection Regime (PSR) notices. Procurement Act 2023 notices nearly always have one (98.5% in our October 2025 – September 2026 sample). This gap shrinks as old procurements finish.
Health and social care (CPV 85) is the weakest category on Find a Tender: fewer than half of its award notices publish an end date, because of PSR notices.
We treat a published end date as unusable if it ends on or before its start date, before the award decision date, before the year 2000, or more than 30 years in the future.
Some buyers publish award notices after the contract has already ended (3–5% of cases). Some may type placeholder dates. We can't detect these.
We never infer an end date from another source. Where it isn't published, we say "end date not published".

Not covered: Public Contracts Scotland, Sell2Wales and eTendersNI notices that aren't also published on Find a Tender, and buyers' own e-tendering portals. Most below-threshold Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish opportunities are therefore missing.
Duplicates across portals: the same contract can appear on both Find a Tender and Contracts Finder with no shared ID. We match them on buyer, title, value and dates (201 duplicates merged so far). A few may still slip through or be merged wrongly.
Frameworks: each framework supplier is a separate award row in the source. We group them, and the end date is the framework's own end date.
Regions come from the delivery location in the notice or, failing that, the buyer's address. "UK-wide" means national or multi-region delivery.
Categories use the CPV code the buyer picked, which is sometimes wrong.
Personal data: we never show buyer contact names, e-mails or phone numbers, and we don't name suppliers who look like individuals or sole traders.
